I have been a member of the MOMS Club – Kingstowne since my fist daughter, Mary, was born in 2008. My second daughter, Kate was born in 2012. Shortly afterwards, my world was turned upside down when I was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer.

Immediately following my diagnosis, the entire MOMS Club was at my side. They provided meals. They brought crafts for my daughters & I to do together. They arranged rides for me and my daughters to play dates. They arranged visits and offered their love & support. My friends provided laughs, a shoulder to cry on, and their love. One friend, Michele, organized a fundraiser to help cover the cost of my medical funds. Every playgroup donated a basket to be auctioned off. Enough money was raised for my husband & I to travel to MD Anderson in Houston TX for an opinion on my current treatment.

ColleenThe cancer recently progressed to my brain. This was heartbreaking news. Again, the MOMS Club was there for me. My spirits were lifted as we had our annual Christmas party. It was a joy watching the girls decorate cookies, make ornaments, & meet Santa. Sandy, Michele, Cindi, & Jill organized a movie night with comedy and yummy desserts. Michele took pictures of our family prior to me loosing my hair. Sandy went for walks with me and listened as I complained about my symptoms. They were there for me as only true friends can be. They are my best friends.

The friendships, love, & support I have received through MOMS Club have helped me get through such a challenging time in my life. I am so grateful for each hug, laugh, & smile. It is an amazing and inspiring group of strong women that give me strength everyday. Joining the group was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
