BUSINESS MEETINGS
In addition to running the meeting, it is the President’s responsibility to ensure that the chapter is supporting the guidelines and policies of the International MOMS Club. You must ensure that ALL chapter business is voted on at a general meeting.
All general meetings should follow Robert’s Rules of Order. In general, a President (or whoever is leading the meeting) should not present an opinion or participate in any vote. There are two instances in which a president can vote – to create or break a tie. A tied vote always fails. If a motion is tied and she wants it to pass, she can vote to break the tie and pass the motion. If a vote is tied and she wants the motion to fail, she can abstain from voting to leave it a tie, which fails the motion. If a motion is passing by only one vote, the president can vote to create a tie, which would cause the motion to fail.
