One of the most touching aspects of MOMS Club is how moms really do offer each other support, in good times and in bad.  The MOMS Club of New Hanover Township, PA, has rallied to help one of their own kids deal with a difficult challenge.  Garrett, a wonderful four-year-old boy in the chapter, has recently been diagnosed with Batten Disease, a rare and fatal disorder of the nervous system.  In order to raise awareness and funds for Garrett and for Batten Disease research, the chapter has organized a series of events.gmc

Starting on Saturday March 21, the chapter, in partnership with the Wellness Council of Boyertown, have invited the community to participate in “1,000 Miles for Garrett” – a walk along a virtual path from Boyertown, PA to Batten Road in Brooksville, FL.   Participating teams (of up to 10 participants) have about eight weeks to walk 1,000 miles – about 2 miles a day per participant.

To make it a full community event, the chapter will be organizing weekly walking dates at local parks, Senior Walking Bingo for senior citizens, and a final event in Boyertown on Thursday May 14, where Rita’s Water Ice will be donating a portion of sales.
