I wanted to give a report and shout out to our group, and specifically our AVP Kelly, on the amazing service we accomplished this year. Here is a brief summary of what we did (with photos).

September — We did a fundraiser night at Chick-fil-a to raise money for our upcoming service projects. Members came with their families to enjoy a meal and meet the Chick-fil-a cow (who was actually our chapter president in disguise)!
Later in the month we made 120 sack lunches for a local homeless shelter.

December — We threw a Christmas party for residents at a shelter for victims of domestic violence with games, pizza and crafts. We also participated in the shelter’s sub for santa program.

February –We reserved a meeting room at our library and met for “Service-fest” where we tried to complete as many service projects as we could in three hours! In that time we managed to decorate 40 boxes for our local food bank, make 20 Valentine’s for residents at a retirement home, assemble 20 hygiene kits for a homeless outreach program, and make 20 craft kits for a children’s hospital.

March –We wrapped diapers for our local diaper bank.

May — Our chapter had a “Royal Tea Party” Fundraiser for Millie’s Princess Foundation,an organization that provides financial assistance to families fighting childhood cancer. Guests had tea and dessert, made crafts, and got to meet Cinderella and Prince Charming, Belle, Elsa, and Rapunzel and Flynn. We also had a silent auction and raffle of prizes donated from our members and local businesses. All of the funds raised went to the family of an adorable four year old boy named Jude who has been fighting leukemia since he was two years old. We raised $1800, and the foundation added $5000 for a total of $6800 that we were able to give to them.

We also set up 3 visits to a local assisted living center. We had a Halloween party with crafts and trick-or-treating, a Christmas party with coloring and caroling, and valentines day party with cookie decorating and valentine giving. The residents and the kids loved getting to know each other.

Best,
Kristi
