When the MOMS Club of Shawnee-E, KS thought about doing another service project, their eyes quickly turned to their local park. Centrally located within their chapter’s boundaries, the park has hosted many a playgroup and even their monthly socials. The choice was obvious that they should give something back to the place they enjoyed so much. So the chapter adopted the park.
In additional to their annual food drive and a quarterly diaper collection, once a quarter the chapter gathers to make sure the park is clean and enjoyable to everyone who visits.
The park clean-up is a perfect fit for a chapter who wants to get the kids directly involved in helping. “The kids do some playing and some helping, they are multi-taskers like that. We enjoy the opportunity to give back to our community.” said Cindy, the chapter president.
Last month, the chapter was particularly thrilled to receive a special acknowledgement from the city for their efforts to help Keep Shawnee Beautiful.
