Last month, our chapter participated in a food harvest in conjunction with our county’s food bank. The mission of Clark County Food Bank is to “Alleviate hunger and all its root causes.” The food bank uses a farm program that produces more than 85,000 pounds of fresh produce annually. Produce is donated to food banks around the county and used in meal programs. Members, their husbands and children got their hands dirty and worked hard harvesting cucumbers, zucchini and hundreds of pounds of spaghetti squash. It was both an amazing way to give back to the community, and an educational experience to teach our children where food comes from. It was a great experience and we hope to make it an annual fall tradition in our chapter.
